• History: 89th percentile — stronger than nearly nine of every ten days over the last five years

What’s driving it

• Policy strong at 81: the 2s10s curve steepened by 82 bps, a sign the rate path is cooperating with risk, and the short rate proxy is holding supportive at 3.67%.

• Risk Appetite improving at 79: VIX at 16.15 and high-beta leadership intact, though QQQ/SPY and SMH/SPY both softened 2–5% over 21 days, hinting the leaders are tiring.

• Growth improving at 74: copper firm and small caps outperforming (IWM/SPY +4.1%), industrials leading the tape (+7.7%) — cyclical breadth, not just mega-cap.

• QQQE sitting on 21dma-structure after the shakeout. ATR Dist 21ema -0.20, 10wma +0.63. Not extended either way.

• QQQ broke down and came back into range. Potential undercut & rally setup, higher low intact. Supporting color, not the tag.

2. Breadth Regime (Nasdaq MCSI / MCO) — oversold, trying to hold

• MCSI -0.82, below 10dma, still trending lower. No hook yet.

• MCO -0.23, working off a deep oversold print this morning. Room to run if buyers show up.

3. Internals — risk-on

• SHY/HYG 1.03, rejected hard at declining 21dma-structure. Spreads compressing.

• VIX 16.59, same rejection at declining 21dma-structure. Middle East stress test got bought fast.

4. Liquid Leaders Action — holding, oversold

• LL Composite MCSI 0.95, above zero but rolling. MCO -1.24, 2-sigma oversold print.

• LL price holding rising 21dma-structure. Semis and AI still under rotation. Leaders that are still leading, or new ones emerging, showing constructive action. INIT broke out on earnings.

• Fresh layer, testing the water. Not a full press.

• Action: NEW HWM, ALAB, CRDO, TWST / ADDED none / TRIMMED none / CLOSED none

• NER back at ceiling ~2%. NE Δ right at the open — nothing has moved yet. Book was clean going in, financed core CRWD + SNOW. Waiting on the layer to pay before I press.

THE GAMEPLAN

Tape isn’t perfect but there are spots showing up. Oversold conditions, a potential U&R on QQQ, and internals rejecting at resistance is enough to test the market. Not a full press. A probe. Fresh layer on HWM, ALAB, CRDO, TWST is now the book.

The make-or-break pillar is Nasdaq breadth (MCSI/MCO). MCO printed the oversold, MCSI is still trending lower. If breadth hooks and the fresh names give me cushion, I add. If MCSI keeps fading and the layer doesn’t pay, I cut the weakest and bring the layer back down. Simple as that.

Semis and AI aren’t ready to play yet. That’s fine. Leadership is narrowing and the rotation into Aerospace, Genomics, Healthcare, Cyber is where the next leg is forming. That’s what the layer is expressing. Not out of the woods, but this is the right side of the pullback to be probing, not the wrong side.

Hey guys, tape isn’t perfect but there are some interesting spots showing up. Constructive action starting to emerge. Enough of a signal to test the water with a fresh layer.

Market picture

QQQ broke down and came back into range. Same story on the Russell — potential undercut & rally setup in the base that could spark buying. Weekly trend is still up, still a higher low intact on QQQ. QQQ holding 21dma-s.

Internals confirmed today. VIX and credit spreads both got rejected hard at their declining 21dma-s. LLs printed a 2 standard deviation oversold condition. Breadth extensions read the same. Middle East stress test this morning got bought quickly across the board.

Semis and AI still under rotation — not ready to play those yet. But leading names that are still leading, or new leaders emerging, are showing constructive action. INIT broke out and got paid on earnings.

So all in all, oversold conditions plus a potential U&R plus internals rejected at resistance is enough to test the market. Not a full press. A probe.

On my book

Fresh layer is now the book. Opened HWM, ALAB, CRDO, TWST today — NER back at ceiling around 2%. Tried to diversify with some healthcare and industrials alongside the tech names to balance for the broader-market strength that’s been the story. No traction yet on the fresh stuff, that’s expected on day one. Watching to see if the layer gets paid before I press.

NE Δ is right at the open — nothing has moved. If the fresh names give me cushion, I add more. If they don’t, I cut the weakest and bring the layer back down. Not out of the woods, but this is the right side of the pullback to be probing, not the wrong side.

Book was clean going in. Financed core in CRWD and SNOW. Room to open the layer without stressing anything.

• Sidelines day. No pitch. Cycle leaders confirming distribution each session.

• Book clean. NER off. Three financed core positions. Total exposure 22.5%. Cushion on CRWD and SNOW. Nothing fragile, nothing to manage.

THE GAMEPLAN

Same playbook as yesterday and this morning. Cycle leaders — semis, memory, AI trade, growth — under distribution, and each day more of them confirm it. SNDK rejected the declining 21dma-s with a new low. INTC broke the 21dma-s. LITE new low. GLW broke. DOCN gap up and rejected. That’s the tape. Meanwhile RSP, DJI, NYA all above rising 21dma-s and money rotating into Aerospace, Genomics, Travel, Banks. Broader market holding up. Bifurcated.

The make-or-break question is whether that distribution stays contained in the cycle leaders or spreads into broader tech and the broader market. Until I have that answer, nothing for me to do. QQQE still in structure is the tell — if that breaks, the bifurcation resolves the wrong way.

I’m keeping a handful of names on watch in case the tape firms up in the next few sessions, but I want to be crystal clear: the Focus List below is not a buy list right now. It’s a lab. I’m watching how these names behave around the 21dma-structure — do they hold, tighten, bounce, shake out, or break down. That’s the information I’m mining. No new initiations from me tomorrow based on tonight’s picture. Book stays clean, NER off, cushion sitting on CRWD and SNOW. Defense wins championships. Open mind — but I’m leaning defensive and I’m not going to argue with the tape.

Hey guys. Same playbook as this morning and yesterday. Cycle leaders under distribution, and each day more of them confirm it.

Market picture

SNDK/MU/memory rejected the declining 21dma-s with a new low today. INTC broke the 21dma-s. LITE new low, GLW broke the 21dma-s. DOCN gap up and rejection at the declining 21dma-s. ALAB at 21dma-s low. BE another lower low and rejection. AMD/DELL still holding but look tired. Leaders of this cycle continue to be under distribution.

QQQ broke down from inside day and closed below the 21dma-s. No bueno. QQQE still in 21dma-structure. RSP/DJI/NYA all above rising 21dma-s — weakness is contained in the cycle leaders and money is rotating elsewhere.

So all in all, bifurcated tape. Cycle leaders — semis, AI trade, growth — being distributed and rotated out. Broader market holding up. Big question is whether that distribution spreads into broader tech and broader market, or stays contained. Until I have that answer, nothing for me to do.

On my book

Book is clean. NER off, three financed core positions, total exposure 22.5%. Cushion sitting on CRWD and SNOW. Nothing fragile, nothing to manage.

• Policy strong at 81: the 2s10s curve steepened by 82 bps, a sign the rate path is cooperating with risk, and the short rate proxy is holding supportive at 3.67%.

• Risk Appetite improving at 79: VIX at 16.15 and high-beta leadership intact, though QQQ/SPY and SMH/SPY both softened 2–5% over 21 days, hinting the leaders are tiring.

• Growth improving at 74: copper firm and small caps outperforming (IWM/SPY +4.1%), industrials leading the tape (+7.7%) — cyclical breadth, not just mega-cap.

• QQQE 120.89, riding the 21dma-structure. ATR Dist. 21ema 0.65, 10wma 1.35. Not extended, not stretched.

• Bar character quiet. QQQ same story — stuck in that range under 745, weird decoupling from cycle leaders continues.

2. Breadth Regime (Nasdaq MCSI / MCO) — leaning risk-off

• MCSI -0.81, below 10dma (-0.77) and rolling. Fading since May, still trending lower.

• MCO 0.44, hooked up from oversold but nothing meaningful yet. No thrust.

3. Internals — risk-on

• Credit Spreads (SHY/HYG) 1.03, below 21dma-structure. Quiet.

• VIX 15.67, pinned below 21dma-structure. No fear bid.

4. Liquid Leaders Action — softening

• LL Composite MCSI 1.21, still above 10dma (1.26) but hooked down. OB and fading. MCO -0.47, below zero.

• LL price chart holding at rising 21dma-structure. But the cycle leaders — semis, memory, ARM, NBIS — rejecting backtests of declining 21dma-structure. That’s the tell.

5. Portfolio & NER Feedback — defensive

• Late-cycle custodian day. Not chasing the gap up.

• Action: NEW none / ADDED none / TRIMMED none / CLOSED none

• 22.8% exposure, NER off, off margin. Book clean, fully financed core (SNOW + CRWD remainder). No fresh risk on.

THE GAMEPLAN

Not much to do here. Broad tape still looks healthy on the surface, but under the hood the names I actually trade — the cycle leaders — are breaking down and starting to live below declining 21dma-structure. Semis, memory, ARM, NBIS all rejecting backtests. That’s not the setup I want to press.

The make-or-break pillar is Liquid Leaders Action. LL Composite MCSI hooked down from OB, cycle leaders cracking, and QQQE/QQQ decoupling from what used to lead. Either these names digest, pull back, shake out, and set up again — or the distribution spreads into other groups and the internals finally catch up. Both are on the table. No idea which way it flips, and I don’t need to know.

Late-cycle custodian mode. Book stays clean, off margin, 22.8% and no fresh risk on. I’m ready to be patient. Let the leaders reset. When the fat pitch shows up — names pulling back into rising 21dma-structure with a focus list I actually want to lean on — I’ll reengage. Not there yet.

PORTFOLIO UPDATE 7/6

Hey guys, quick one today. A lot of divergence, super hard to read, and honestly I don’t see a fat pitch at all.

Market picture:

Broad market still strong on the surface. Under the hood the cycle leading groups and names are breaking down and starting to live below their declining 21dma-structure. Semis, memory stocks, ARM, NBIS all rejecting their backtest of declining structure. QQQ/QQQE stuck in that weird decoupling from the leaders.

Never a big fan of watching leadership shape up like this. These names are extended in time and distance from the April low — they led the cycle up, and now they need time to reset. They could still base and rotate back if the broad tape stays healthy, but I’m in the camp that they need more time.

So all in all, that justifies the stance — take it easy, mostly cash, low exposure, gather more data. If the current leaders keep declining, that distribution will spread into other groups eventually. Not a lot to do here.

On my book:

Book is clean. Fully financed core, NER off, no fresh risk on. Sitting at 22.8% exposure, off margin.

Trimmed 1/5 on both CRWD tranches into strength — it was extended and I wanted to lock some profits and manage exposure. Not a market call, just active risk management on a name that ran. Rest of the book is SNOW and the remaining CRWD core, plenty of cushion, nothing fragile.

Late-cycle custodian mode. Waiting for my pitch, not chasing today’s gap up.

THE GAMEPLAN

Stress-test mode. QQQ broke reversal pivot, SMH printed a new LL — when THE leaders since April’s low start breaking structure like that, my job is to protect EC first and ask questions later. That’s what Thursday’s cleanup did.

The make-or-break pillar is Liquid Leaders Action. The broader tape isn’t broken — indices outside tech at ATHs, credit and VIX quiet, software/cyber still setting up. Question is whether the rotation out of semis/AI sustains or drags the whole complex lower. I do my best work in tech/growth, so I’d rather stay engaged lighter and wait for the tech trade to sort itself out than chase names outside my wheelhouse.

Posture is slower. 30% exposure in software/cyber, off margin. Taking a few more sessions through Tuesday to see how tech/AI shapes up and whether the rotation actually holds. What flips me back to pressing: LL MCSI hooking above 10dma with LL price reclaiming structure, and the April leaders confirming shakeouts or ceding the baton cleanly. Until then, less is more.

No Focus List tonight — want another session or two to see how the distribution in the April leaders shapes up and whether the rotation actually holds before committing to names. More info needed. Rest is in the PF update.

PORTFOLIO UPDATE 7/5

Hey guys, quick one on Thursday’s action before the long weekend. Bit of a mixed bag day — the leaders are cracking but the broader tape is actually holding up fine.

Market picture

QQQ broke that reversal pivot and closed below the 21ema — first close below structure since April. SMH looking worse, first close below structure since April as well and printing a new LL. When THE leaders since April’s low start breaking down like that, that’s my big red flag signal. I don’t chase rotations, so when the group I’ve been riding starts distributing, I step aside and wait for my pitch.

That said, the broader tape isn’t broken. Outside of tech, indices are still making new all-time highs, internals are healthy, no red flags there. And within tech, it’s not all bad — software and cybersecurity are still setting up and acting well, which is where I’m still adding exposure.

So all in all, it’s a market under rotation. Semis/AI under distribution, other areas taking the lead. Whether that rotation is robust and sustains — remains to be seen. Up to you if you want to play it. Personally I do my best work in tech/growth and that’s where the grand slams come from, so I’d rather stay engaged lighter and wait for the tech trade to sort itself out than chase names outside my wheelhouse.

On my book

After Thursday’s cleanup, the book is back to a light, financed core — SNOW and CRWD only, off margin, Total Exposure back to a very light footprint. The NER cleanup did its job: no fresh unfinanced risk sitting on the book, nothing fragile, plenty of cushion to the stops. Open Profit still comfortably above Open Heat, so the cycle cushion is intact.

The why on the cleanup: this ties directly into what I laid out in the PTA — concentration crept in through the back door on semis/AI, and when THE leaders started breaking structure, my job was to protect EC first, ask questions later. The 21dma-structure entries were valid setups individually, but the aggregate risk of being that concentrated in a group starting to distribute was higher than the trade math suggested. Restraint at the book level, not the trade level.

Posture from here is slower. Going to take a few more days to see how the tech/AI trade shapes up and whether the rotation elsewhere actually holds. Still engaged in software/cybersecurity names that are working, but not pressing until the picture clears up.

• Risk Appetite is strong. Traders paying up for the aggressive stuff — tech and chips leading the broad market, high-beta names beating defensives more than 2 to 1.

• Growth is improving. Copper bid, small caps up 5.4% in three weeks, industrials up 8.2%. Cyclical corners of the market are leading, which is what happens when the real economy is accelerating.

• Policy is supportive. The yield curve steepened sharply (+78 bps on 2s10s), a signal the rate path is cooperating.

• Liquidity is the drag. The 10-year at 4.48% and a firm dollar mean money isn’t loose. The usual grease for risk-taking isn’t there.

Positioning read

• Favors cyclical tilt — equities, credit, commodities, small caps and industrials over defensives.

THE GAMEPLAN

Top-down the picture isn’t broken at all — QQQE, breadth, internals all risk-on. But the LL feedback is what matters most to me, and it’s telling me the leaders can’t hold traction. Setups are there, the tape read is clean, but volatility is high and every time I retest ECI I get flushed back. Three weeks of that same feedback. I’m not arguing with it.

Make-or-break pillar is Liquid Leaders Action. If the LLs absorb this distribution day and semis/AI form the right side, that’s my green light to lean back in. If the LL breadth keeps bleeding and the distribution stacks, that pulls internals and breadth with it and I’m defending harder.

Posture from here is two-fold. First, staying on the low side of exposure — no margin, personally a bit lighter for the next few days. Full re-engagement only if traction improves and feedback confirms. Second, I want to broaden outside of semis. Not chasing laggards — but names like $ANET today, $VRT setting up again, that’s the diversification I want since I already have plenty of semi exposure. Defense kicks in harder if the LLs break down in unison and credit spreads reclaim their 21dma-structure — until then, I’m just watching and letting setups come to me. Giveback day, and that’s OK — part of the game to ride a trend.

Hey guys, nasty day thanks to that META news pre-market — semis and the AI trade didn’t like it and got hit hard. Not going into the reasons, it is what it is.

Market picture

Tape is pretty divergent here. QQQE actually not looking bad, still above a rising 21dma-structure. MCSI hooked up on QQQ — breadth extension regime attempt. Credit Spreads clean with the backtest and rejection of the declining 21dma-structure. VIX same story, good below its declining 21dma.

So the damage today was really contained to semis and AI, which happens to be the only leading group right now — and where I was heavy. So I took a pretty big hit. Part of the game.

So all in all, top-down the picture isn’t broken at all. But the LLs took a real distribution day (-95th GDB), and that’s the feedback that matters most to me right now.

On my book

Here’s the real read: it’s now three weeks since that Friday where every time I gain traction and push exposure back up, I get slammed back down at prior equity highs. That’s the feedback. The market still looks like it’s in that base and chop, and I don’t want to get caught overweight in it.

So into the close I trimmed exposure below structure, reduced SNOW/CRWD add at 2R, and cut the weaker names. Book is back to a mature, financed core with just a thin new layer on top — NER contained, NE Δ tight, plenty of cushion to the stops. Off margin, sitting lighter with some cash on the sidelines.

From here I’m just watching. Can the tape firm up? Can we see broadening into the rest of tech? Can semis and AI stabilize, form the right side, and push to new highs? All things I’ll be watching — personally a bit lighter for the next few days.

At the end of the day, you have to respect the feedback you get, despite what you’re seeing or thinking of the market.

THE MARKET PICTURE (5-pillars checklist)

1. $QQQE Price Action — risk-on

• QQQE followed through cleanly on yesterday’s reversal, back up and pushing away from rising 21dma-structure. ATR Dist 21ema 1.22, 10wma 2.04 — room, not extended.

• Trend reconfirmation is in. Character of the last two bars is thrust, not chase.

2. Breadth Regime (Nasdaq MCSI / MCO) — mixed

• Nasdaq MCSI still below a declining 10dma (-0.91z). Not hooked up yet — this is the missing confirmation.

• Nasdaq MCO curling up from oversold toward zero (-0.18z). Constructive, but not enough on its own.

3. Internals — risk-on

• Credit spreads (SHY/HYG) broke down from 21dma-structure. Clean.

• VIX broke down from 21dma-structure on the same day. Both external confirmations landed together — that’s the read I was waiting on.

4. Liquid Leaders Action — risk-on

• LL Composite MCSI hooked up and now above 10dma, tagged OB. MCO positive at +0.53z. Strongest breadth read on the board.

• LL price pushing to new highs, GDB +83. Setups clustering at rising 21dma-structure across Memory, Foundry, Analog Semis. Leadership is thin but what’s leading is acting fantastic.

5. Portfolio & NER Feedback — risk-on

• Constructive derisk-into-strength day. Trend reconfirmed, book mature, cushion doing its job.

• Action: NEW none / ADDED none / TRIMMED DELL, MRVL (both hit 2R, 1/3 off, graduated out of NE) / CLOSED none

• Book is mostly financed core with a small, working new layer. Margin is on but earned — no fragility underneath. CORZ the lone underperformer, giving it the rest of the week on base-structure bounce.

THE GAMEPLAN

Reconfirmation is in, but leadership is thin — and that changes the job. External confirmation landed clean (credit spreads and VIX both breaking down from 21dma-structure same day), QQQE is thrusting, LLs are acting fantastic. The tape is risk-on. But the clear top leaders are extended, and what’s left on the Focus List isn’t laggards, isn’t leaders either — it’s the next tier. That has to be respected.

The make-or-break pillar is Nasdaq MCSI hooking above its 10dma. That’s the last external read I’m waiting on. Until it turns, the tape stays thin and choppy underneath the leaders, and I have to be nail-on with what I own. Not press-the-book territory — patience territory.

Posture is unchanged from the PF update: no new initiations into extension, trim into strength, let the cushion work. The book is mature, the new layer is small and paid. If I’m going to reach into the Focus List, it’s on pullbacks tight around rising 21dma-structure — never chasing. Defense kicks in on a credit spread or VIX reclaim back above 21dma-structure, or if the LL composite starts breaking down in unison. Neither is on the radar today.

PORTFOLIO UPDATE 6/29

Hey guys,

Back-to-back strong day, and another easy thrust on top of yesterday’s reversal. For me that’s the trend reconfirmation I was waiting on. Whatever happens from here — stress test, sideways, whatever — the train is back up and away from structure, even without a new high yet.

Market picture

QQQE followed through cleanly on yesterday’s daily reversal — trend back up, pushing away from the 21dma. Breadth was actually nothing special today (-1 net adv ratio, more decliners than advancers), but momo daily ratio at 7x tells you it was a strong day in thin tape. You had to be in the leaders, and the LLs composite was the strongest read of the day — hard push on price, breadth at GDB +83, MCSI hooked up and now above 10dma.

VIX broke down from 21dma-structure. Credit spreads broke down from 21dma-structure. Both reads I’ve been watching for as the external confirmation — and we got them on the same day. That’s clean.

Breadth ext but not OB yet. MCSI not fully hooked-up either, so there’s still room.

So all in all, the reconfirmation is in. The job now isn’t to press — it’s to follow the leaders, trim into strength, and stay patient. No edge in adding here with the tape extending.

On my book

Game plan today was to do nothing new and instead derisk into strength on what was already working — and that’s exactly what played out. DELL and MRVL both hit 2R and got trimmed 1/3, which graduates them out of NE and locks in realized on top of working cores. Great feedback on top of cores that are already doing their job.

The book is mature and mostly financed core. New layer is small, contained, and getting paid — fresh exposure has traction, the cushion is real, and there’s nothing fragile about the structure underneath it. Margin is still on, but it’s earned: cycle’s working, follow-through is in, and the cushion absorbs anything reasonable from here. This is the productive middle — the longer the book lives, the safer it gets structurally.

CORZ was the one underperformer on the day, but I’m giving it the rest of the week to bounce off the base structure. Trimmed already, cushion in place, PF cushion gives me the patience.

Smart cycle behavior here is patience. Trim into strength, let leaders extend, don’t stack fresh entries into an extended tape. Repeat the process.

One thing I’ve learned over the years is that a lot of trading behavior comes down to choices.

Being positive is a choice. Staying aligned with the longer-term trend is a choice. Focusing on what the market is doing instead of what you think it should do is a choice. Just like flipping bearish after two red days is a choice.

Now, if your timeframe is a few hours or a couple of days, that’s perfectly fine. Different styles exist for a reason. But if your goal is to participate in the multi-week and multi-month moves that can make a year, then you need a mindset that can survive normal pullbacks, rotations, and periods of uncertainty.

The tricky part is that sometimes those emotional flips will be right. Sometimes the market will roll over, the correction will become something bigger, and the traders who turned bearish after a few rough days will look smart. Those moments tend to stand out because they’re memorable.

What gets overlooked is the cost of making that same decision over and over again during the 90% of the time when a normal pullback is just that: a normal pullback within a healthy trend.

When you’re constantly reacting to every red day, scary headline, or uncomfortable pullback, you end up fighting the very trends you’re trying to capture. Exposure gets reduced when it feels uncomfortable, only to be added back when things feel comfortable again.

The market rarely rewards comfort.

The irony is that the biggest moves often feel the hardest to hold. If they were easy, everyone would capture them. Most traders say they want the multi-week and multi-month trend, but many abandon the position the moment the market stops going straight up.

That’s why I try to spend less time predicting and more time observing. As long as the evidence remains constructive, my job is to stay aligned with it. When the evidence changes, I’ll change with it.

Until then, I don’t see much value in turning every pullback into a new bear market thesis.

Sometimes the biggest edge is simply having the discipline to stay with a trend longer than most people are emotionally capable of. That’s where a lot of the real money is made. 🐼📈

• Daily reversal off a higher low at rising 21dma-structure — the read I’d been waiting on. Oops reversals and undercut-and-rallies stacked across the top groups, Friday’s high reclaimed.

• ATR Dist 0.79 (21ema) / 1.44 (10wma) — not extended, room to run.

2. Breadth Regime (Nasdaq MCSI / MCO) — mixed, leaning constructive

• MCSI still below 10dma at -0.88, trying to curl off an oversold touch — hook is the candidate, not confirmed.

• MCO firmed on a +87th GDB score off the lower band — early tell.

3. Internals — mixed, leaning right direction

• Credit spreads inside 21dma-structure but printed a clean downside reversal off the 21ema. Need follow-through tomorrow to fully sign off.

• VIX broke range, trying to lose its own 21dma-structure. Right direction, not confirmed.

4. Liquid Leaders Action — risk-on

• LL Composite MCSI at 0.97 above rising 10dma, MCO +0.11 trending up — clean risk-on breadth in the leaders. +82nd GDB on the tap.

• Top leaders tagged 21dma-structure at the open and reversed hard — continuation behavior, not distribution.

• Engagement day at structure — window opened, I took it.

• Action: NEW INTC, DELL, MRVL / ADDED NBIS, ARM / TRIMMED INTC, NBIS

• NER -2.2% at the ceiling, NE Δ positive, Open Heat contained against fat open profit. Layer already showing traction.

THE GAMEPLAN

The setup for continuation is here, and today was the day to execute. That’s how I trade — early in the top leading groups, in the leaders inside them, at the 21dma-structure while the tape is still in anticipation. Friday was a risk-management day because the book was getting a bit weak into the weekend. I did that job, came into Monday open and optimistic, and the leaders rewarded it — screaming buy at structure, confirming the oops reversals, the undercut-and-rallies, the shakeouts. That’s my edge. I executed, took the new exposure, already built cushion on the layer.

The make-or-break pillar is credit spreads. Internals softened in the right direction — VIX losing its range, spreads printing a clean reversal off the 21ema — but spreads haven’t broken structure yet. That’s the one I need tomorrow to fully sign off. MCSI hooking above its 10dma rides alongside it. Until both happen, today is a strong reversal inside a still-repairing tape, not a green light to press.

From here, my job on the entry side is done. No more fresh exposure. NER at the ceiling on purpose — I opened the layer at structure when the window was there, not after the move was gone. Game flips now: trim into strength, trim into extensions, slowly get off margin, let the new layer prove itself. Follow-through and the fresh stuff finances the next push. No follow-through and the cuts come from the weakest names first. Defense kicks in if spreads reclaim 21dma-structure, MCSI rolls back over, or leaders give back today’s reversal in unison.

PORTFOLIO UPDATE 6/29

Hey guys — finally feels like the right day. Looks like the market needed last week to fully digest and base, and today we got the right side starting to form.

Market picture

QQQE confirmed a daily reversal off a higher low at the rising 21dma-structure. That’s the read I’ve been waiting on. Powerful action across the top groups and liquid leaders — undercut & rally shakeouts, oops reversals, and Friday’s high reclaimed on most of them. That’s risk-on behavior off structure.

Breadth firmed up with MCO pushing higher on a +87th GDB score, and MCSI trying to curl off an oversold touch. Internals softened in the right direction — VIX range breakdown, trying to lose its own 21dma-structure too. Credit spreads still inside the 21dma-structure but printed a clean downside reversal off the 21ema — that’s the one I still need to see break down tomorrow to fully sign off.

LLs tapped the 21dma-structure at open with a strong daily reversal and +82nd GDB. Just look at the top leaders — oops reversals and shakeouts at the 21dma-structure with strong action off the right side. That’s continuation behavior, not distribution.

So all in all, the setup for continuation is here. Today’s QQQE reversal is the confirmation candidate, but it has to stick — need credit spreads to follow through tomorrow.

On my book

I engaged today. NEW exposure on INTC, DELL, MRVL, plus an ARM add and an NBIS add. NER sits at -2.2%, which is right at my ceiling — but that’s the whole point: I open the layer at structure when the tape gives me the window, not after the move’s already gone.

The book is covered. NE Δ is positive, the new layer is already showing traction, FER/UER and NE/CE are all within limits, and Open Heat is contained against a fat cushion of open profit. This is exactly how I want to engage a turn — fully aware of the risk, with the rest of the portfolio doing the work underneath.

From here, my job is done on the entry side. No more fresh exposure. Patience now — trim into strength, trim into extensions, and let the layer prove itself. If the market follows through tomorrow, the fresh stuff finances the next push. If it doesn’t, the cuts come from the weakest names first.

One thing I’ve learned over the years is that a lot of trading behavior comes down to choices.

Being positive is a choice. Staying aligned with the longer-term trend is a choice. Focusing on what the market is doing instead of what you think it should do is a choice. Just like flipping bearish after two red days is a choice.

Now, if your timeframe is a few hours or a couple of days, that’s perfectly fine. Different styles exist for a reason. But if your goal is to participate in the multi-week and multi-month moves that can make a year, then you need a mindset that can survive normal pullbacks, rotations, and periods of uncertainty.

The tricky part is that sometimes those emotional flips will be right. Sometimes the market will roll over, the correction will become something bigger, and the traders who turned bearish after a few rough days will look smart. Those moments tend to stand out because they’re memorable.

What gets overlooked is the cost of making that same decision over and over again during the 90% of the time when a normal pullback is just that: a normal pullback within a healthy trend.

When you’re constantly reacting to every red day, scary headline, or uncomfortable pullback, you end up fighting the very trends you’re trying to capture. Exposure gets reduced when it feels uncomfortable, only to be added back when things feel comfortable again.

The market rarely rewards comfort.

The irony is that the biggest moves often feel the hardest to hold. If they were easy, everyone would capture them. Most traders say they want the multi-week and multi-month trend, but many abandon the position the moment the market stops going straight up.

That’s why I try to spend less time predicting and more time observing. As long as the evidence remains constructive, my job is to stay aligned with it. When the evidence changes, I’ll change with it.

Until then, I don’t see much value in turning every pullback into a new bear market thesis.

Sometimes the biggest edge is simply having the discipline to stay with a trend longer than most people are emotionally capable of. That’s where a lot of the real money is made. 🐼📈

THE MARKET PICTURE (5-pillars checklist)

1. $QQQE Price Action — mixed (leaning constructive)

• QQQE held up better than QQQ Friday, sitting right into rising 21dma-structure. QQQ traded back below its 21dma with a retest and rejection — second time this week the bulls couldn’t hold it.

• ATR Dist. 21EMA 0.03, ATR Dist. 10WMA 1.04 — not extended, weekly trend still up, structure intact. Daily character is split but the setup is right there.

2. Breadth Regime (Nasdaq MCSI / MCO) — mixed (leaning constructive)

• Nasdaq MCO near oversold — there’s real room here if the bid shows up.

• MCSI hasn’t hooked yet. Setup is developing, but no confirmation.

3. Internals — risk-off

• Credit spreads (SHY/HYG) closed dead high above rising 21dma-structure. The read I care about the most.

• VIX at 18.40, still trading above its 21dma. Not panicking, but not confirming risk-on either.

4. Liquid Leaders Action — mixed

• LL Composite MCSI at 0.96 sitting at its 10dma, MCO at -0.49 — breadth coiling, needs the hook up.

• Price charts split: semis got hit all week (INTC, AMD, NBIS, MRVL, ENTG giving back), rotation into software and cyber, CRWD holding structure. Memory, Equipment, Foundry, Connectivity, Analog all coiling at 21dma-structure together — setups stacked, waiting for the push off the right side.

5. Portfolio & NER Feedback — neutral (cleanup day)

• Cleanup pass — tape forced my hand on names that lost 21dma-structure. Portfolio feedback is the most important feedback of all.

• Action: NEW none / ADDED none / TRIMMED ARM / CLOSED VRT, FLEX, BE, CSCO, ARM (5/12 lot)

• Total Exposure back to 80%, off margin, NER and NE Δ back in budget, NE/CE down to 0.31x. Sleep-at-night, but still exposed enough to scale back up quickly if the higher low confirms.

THE GAMEPLAN

Make-or-break spot. Weekly trend is still up, we’re still above a rising weekly structure, and Nasdaq MCO is near oversold with the LL Composite breadth coiling too — real room here if the bid shows up. But Friday was the first day I’ve actually been pushed out of positions this run, and portfolio feedback is the most important feedback of all. The tape told me something on Friday and I’m listening.

The make-or-break pillar is the next few sessions of price action — QQQE confirming the daily reversal at 21dma-structure, and the liquid leaders pushing off the right side of their coils. If weakness remains tomorrow and into the next few days and we start to break down further, I’m not looking to retake exposure — I let it play out, get pushed out without arguing with the tape. That’s the discipline. Credit spreads at the highs above rising structure is the tell I can’t ignore.

But if we build constructively from here — QQQE confirms, leaders hold their 21dma-structure and push off the right side — then yeah, I’m looking to go back fully exposed and play for a continuation setup. Day-by-day situation. Weekend Middle East headlines could give us a gap up Monday; what matters is whether it holds and whether we can build on it.

Hey guys, choppy week capped off by another weak session Friday. Saw some real rotation into software and cyber, but the semis got hit and a few of my names broke structure on me — so the day turned into a cleanup pass.

Market picture

QQQ traded back below the 21dma with a retest and rejection Friday — second time this week the bulls couldn’t hold it. QQQE held up better, sitting right into rising 21dma structure, and short-term breadth is still oversold. So there’s a potential setup developing here, no question about it.

But the other side of the tape is harder to ignore. VIX still trading above its 21dma. And credit spreads closed dead high above rising 21dma structure — that’s the read I care about the most. Semis were the clear weak spot all week, software and cyber are where the strength rotated into. Weekend headlines on the Middle East de-escalation could give us a gap up Monday, remains to be seen if it holds.

So all in all, weekly trend is still up, we’re still above rising weekly structure, and the queues are still trying to form a higher low. The setup is there. But the daily action is split and credit spreads are flagging — so Friday wasn’t a day to press, it was a day to make sure the book could survive being wrong.

On my book

Got pushed out of a few names that broke 21dma structure — VRT closed back below, FLEX had a nasty failed breakout, BE down 18% closing below structure, CSCO same story, ARM (5/12 lot) the same. So a chunk of the cleanup was the tape forcing my hand on names that lost structure.

The bigger driver though was UER and FER. Pre-close my book was getting fragile — a lot of positions sitting close to their stops, not much open profit left to absorb a bad day. That’s exactly the setup that hurt me earlier this month: too aggressive on margin with a portfolio close to its stops. Not making the same mistake twice. Even with the QQQE-into-structure setup right there, even with breadth still oversold, my job is to manage risk first — that’s what keeps me in the game long term.

So I cut what was below the 21dma, trimmed ARM, kept cores even though it’s below structure because the April position has enough cushion to give it the week to reclaim. Brought Total Exposure back to 80%, off margin, NER and NE Δ back in budget, NE/CE down to 0.31x. Book is mostly mature core now (ARM, NBIS legacy), fresh layer is contained.

Sleep-at-night level over the weekend, but still exposed enough that I can quickly get back to full if early-week action confirms the higher low. Day-by-day situation from here — need to see how a potential gap up gets held and whether we can build on it.

• NER at 2% — that’s my target into a continuation setup. UER clean, NE Δ in a spot I can live with. FER elevated — that’s the one read I’m watching. Names sitting closer to stops than I’d love after this fade

THE GAMEPLAN

Less is more here. I’m at my 2% NER target into a continuation setup, so I’m not adding new exposure risk. The plan is to do less, not more. If something in the book derisks itself, I might recycle that capital into a new position the way I did with $VRT and $OUST today — but I’m not pressing fresh ideas on top of what’s already on.

The make-or-break pillar is credit spreads. As long as SHY/HYG stays capped under its declining 21dma-structure, there’s no underneath red flag forcing me to defense. MCSI back above its rising 10dma on the LLs is the second confirmation I’m leaning on — the surface looked tired today but under the hood the leaders are doing their job, basing at structure.

If red flags appear — credit spreads spike above structure, fragile names in my book break their 21dma-structure and trigger stops, LLs break down in unison — then my job flips: protect capital, protect the year, reduce exposure, raise cash, play defense. If the market keeps chopping and basing, my job is to be patient. That’s it. No big moves unless the tape forces my hand. Trim into strength, try to add into weakness on leaders still working, let structure do the work.

Hey guys,

Wild tape again today — fade into the close, plenty of weakness on the screen, but at the end of the day everything is still holding structure. Classic summer chop.

Market picture

QQQ and QQQE still > rising 21dma-structure. Initial rejection of the reversal pivot today — tape wasn’t ready, no new info gained vs yesterday. Internals refused to spike above structure, so we’re back inside the chop range.

Breadth still sucks on the surface but MCO is oversold with breadth ext actually up — positive GDB, stocks reclaiming their 5dma. LLs had a good day under the hood: GDB at +80th, MCSI back in uptrend above rising 10dma, breadth expansion. Credit spreads closed nicely red, rejecting structure — that’s the one I’m watching closest. As long as SHY/HYG stays capped under that level, there’s no underneath red flag forcing me to IRA cash.

So all in all, this is fading/basing action inside a still-intact structure. Can it lead to a top? Sure. Can it also be the right side building before continuation? Also yes. The LLs holding and basing at their rising 21dma is what’s keeping me on the glass-half-full side until proven otherwise.

On my book

No exposure adjustments at the close. VRT got derisked, OUST opened with cushion, FLEX gave me nice cushion on the NER too. The new layer is contained and starting to get paid — not the biggest cushion, but enough that I don’t need to force anything.

Book is mature, UER is clean, NE Δ is in a spot I can live with. FER is elevated though — that’s the one read I’m watching. A lot of names are sitting closer to their stops than I’d love after this fade, so if credit spreads break and the tape keeps fading, that number forces my hand. For now, structure is holding and the LLs are doing their job, so I’m staying patient on margin rather than cutting into weakness.

If you already have exposure, this is the spot to be patient — trim into strength, try to add into weakness right into structure on the leaders that are still working. There are some out there, but it’s definitely harder to position. Less is more. Enjoy the summer. If you have cushion, let structure do the work.

One thing I’ve learned over the years is that a lot of trading behavior comes down to choices.

Being positive is a choice. Staying aligned with the longer-term trend is a choice. Focusing on what the market is doing instead of what you think it should do is a choice. Just like flipping bearish after two red days is a choice.

Now, if your timeframe is a few hours or a couple of days, that’s perfectly fine. Different styles exist for a reason. But if your goal is to participate in the multi-week and multi-month moves that can make a year, then you need a mindset that can survive normal pullbacks, rotations, and periods of uncertainty.

The tricky part is that sometimes those emotional flips will be right. Sometimes the market will roll over, the correction will become something bigger, and the traders who turned bearish after a few rough days will look smart. Those moments tend to stand out because they’re memorable.

What gets overlooked is the cost of making that same decision over and over again during the 90% of the time when a normal pullback is just that: a normal pullback within a healthy trend.

When you’re constantly reacting to every red day, scary headline, or uncomfortable pullback, you end up fighting the very trends you’re trying to capture. Exposure gets reduced when it feels uncomfortable, only to be added back when things feel comfortable again.

The market rarely rewards comfort.

The irony is that the biggest moves often feel the hardest to hold. If they were easy, everyone would capture them. Most traders say they want the multi-week and multi-month trend, but many abandon the position the moment the market stops going straight up.

That’s why I try to spend less time predicting and more time observing. As long as the evidence remains constructive, my job is to stay aligned with it. When the evidence changes, I’ll change with it.

Until then, I don’t see much value in turning every pullback into a new bear market thesis.

Sometimes the biggest edge is simply having the discipline to stay with a trend longer than most people are emotionally capable of. That’s where a lot of the real money is made. 🐼📈

THE MARKET PICTURE (5-pillars checklist)

1. Price Action — mixed

• $QQQE pulled right into the rising 21dma-structure and held the 21ema — clean backtest, not a break. ATR Dist 21ema -0.57, room to work.

• Character is digestion at structure, not damage. The bar I want to see tomorrow is continuation, not just a gap.

2. Breadth Regime — risk-off

• MCSI at -0.68, below a declining 10dma — still in negative divergence, no hook yet.

• MCO back to -0.86, washed out on the OS side. ST breadth is on the hook-up, that’s the piece that has to turn first.

3. Internals — mixed

• Credit spreads (SHY/HYG) still below a declining 21dma-structure — the one pillar not on board. This is the missing piece.

• VIX behaving, no risk-off signal there.

4. Liquid Leaders Action — risk-on

• LLs still above their own rising 21dma-structure and digesting. Semis dominating the tape — Memory, Equipment, Foundry all clustered at RS 86.

• MU after the close looks like it’s sparking AI-trade buying overnight. Reclaim and backtest setups stacking at rising 21dma-structure across the leadership board.

5. Portfolio & NER Feedback — mixed

• Setup-into-discomfort day — bought the support, the breadth oversold, the internals holding. Ingredients day, not a thrust day.

• Action: NEW $VRT / ADDED — / TRIMMED — / CLOSED —

• Book is hot on the guardrails — FER and NE/CE elevated, on margin into the close. NE Δ is sliding, which is the honest read on a day where I leaned into the spot. That’s the price of being positioned ahead of the move, not after it.

THE GAMEPLAN

Ingredients were there today, follow-through is tomorrow’s question. Price into support, breadth oversold, internals holding, MU as the potential catalyst. I leaned into the discomfort because the structural setup was there and I wanted to be positioned ahead of a potential thrust, not chasing after it. The big $VRT entry was the cleanest expression — exact 21dma-structure backtest, right-side entry, not a chase.

The make-or-break pillar is credit spreads — SHY/HYG still below a declining 21dma-structure. That’s the piece still missing. Tomorrow I want continuation confirmed AND credit spreads rejecting structure. Until then, it’s a setup, not a thrust. The MCSI hook above its 10dma is the breadth confirmation I’m watching alongside it.

With MU sparking AI trades overnight and semis likely gapping up across the board, my job tomorrow is not to chase. Book is where I want it — the lean was made today, now I trim into strength and slowly come off margin over the next few sessions. A lot of names in the Focus List aren’t actionable on a gap — TSEM, the semi complex, likely extended off the open. The setups I respect are reclaim-and-backtest at rising 21dma-structure, not gap-chases. If we get rejected here and breadth doesn’t thrust, I cut back into the open — that’s the deal I made with myself taking the book up to where it is.

Hey guys, the setup was there today and it was a real one — price into support, breadth oversold, internals holding. The question wasn’t whether the spot was there, it was what kind of trader you wanted to be at it.

Market picture

QQQE pulled right into the rising 21dma-structure and held the 21ema, with breadth washed out — MCO at -1.35σ, stocks above 5dma down to 22% (OS). LLs still above their own rising 21dma-structure and digesting, ST breadth on the OS hook-up. Five-pillars-wise, price in support, breadth oversold, internals at risk but holding right at declining 21dma-structure. The one not on board — credit spreads, SHY/HYG still below declining 21dma-structure. That’s the piece still missing.

So all in all, the ingredients were there for a make-or-break, and MU after the close looks like it’s sparking some buying in the AI trades. But ingredients aren’t follow-through. Tomorrow I want to see continuation confirmed AND credit spreads rejecting structure. Until then, it’s a setup, not a thrust.

Two ways to play it from here — you wait for the confirmation gap-up and accept that the leaders will already be extended off lows, or you buy into the discomfort, into the oversold, into the support, and trust your process. I leaned into the second today because the structural setup was there and I wanted to be positioned ahead of a potential catalyst, not chasing after it.

On my book

Book is running hot on the guardrails and I want to be straight about that — FER and NE/CE are both elevated, and we’re on margin into the close. That’s not a number that fell out of nowhere, it’s a judgment call. The setup gave me a real spot, I’m overweight leaders that were lined up at structure, and MU was a known catalyst into the close. I made the choice to lean into that.

The fresh layer isn’t being paid yet — NE Δ is sliding, which is the honest read on a day you bought into discomfort. That’s the price of getting positioned ahead of the move instead of after it. Tomorrow tells me whether the lean was earned. If MU + continuation deliver and credit spreads finally crack structure, the book is in the right spot. If we get rejected here and breadth doesn’t thrust, I’ll be cutting back into the open — that’s the deal I made with myself taking the book up to where it is.

The big VRT entry today was the cleanest expression of the thesis — been talking about it since last week, was waiting for that exact 21dma-structure backtest, and the spot came. That’s a right-side entry, not a chase.

• Down ~3% retesting the low of 21dma-structure and the recent reversal pivot — big spot, sitting right on the 710.50 shelf

• Inside weekly structure still, character of the bar is information, not a thesis-breaker yet

2. Breadth Regime — mixed

• MCSI in a downtrend below its declining 10dma — negative divergence still in place, breadth contracting on QQQ, flat on LLs

• MCO almost OS now and we’ve built some space since April’s run — that might be the stealth digestion the tape needed, and that’s the make-or-break I’m watching

3. Internals — risk-on

• Credit spreads spiked but got rejected at the declining 21dma-structure — I give that a lot of weight on a -3% QQQ day, that’s constructive

• VIX back above rising 21dma-structure but nothing extreme at 19.39

4. Liquid Leaders Action — risk-on

• LLs above a rising 21dma-structure AND above rising weekly structure — that’s where I want to engage

• Real decoupling today — $CRWD, $CORZ, $NBIS, $CSCO, even the new $SNOW pos held up while index sold off

5. Portfolio & NER Feedback — risk-on

• Two-sided decoupling day — some bad, some good, choosing to focus on the good

• Action: NEW: $SNOW / ADDED: $ARM, $FLEX / TRIMMED: semis exposure / CLOSED: $LITE, $MXL

• NER, NE Δ, NE/CE, UER, FER all within parameters — fresh layer contained, mature core doing the heavy lifting, nothing tight against stops

THE GAMEPLAN

No idea where this swings from here, and that’s the honest read. Today could be the start of chop, the start of a pullback, or just a shakeout — by the end of the week I’ll have more clues. After the run we had, some volatile chop might just be what the tape needs to digest, and the action under the surface keeps showing me what it’s showing me. That’s why I’m choosing to focus on the good and let the bad either catch up or create a buying opportunity.

The make-or-break pillar is the MCO getting OS while MCSI is still negatively diverging below its declining 10dma. If MCO resets oversold and MCSI curls up to reclaim the 10dma while LLs keep defending rising 21dma-structure, that’s the stealth-digestion setup I want. If MCSI keeps grinding lower and credit spreads break out above their declining 21dma-structure, the picture changes and defense kicks in harder.

Posture is balanced and engaged. I don’t want to be overexposed if weakness continues and I’m getting stopped off positions — don’t want to give too much back. But the LLs are above rising 21dma AND above rising weekly structure, and a lot of leaders are pulling back to their own 21dma-structure right now. That’s where I focus — buying as close to structure as possible, keeping the book balanced, staying engaged. Respect the stops, know the open risk, optimistic mindset but not pressing. Cycle posture is still productive middle.

PORTFOLIO UPDATE 6/23

Hey guys, hope everyone had a decent day — wasn’t an easy one. We talked about it this morning in the EMS session, the mindset you need to have for that kind of gap down and red session. Bulls tried to bounce early, didn’t show up.

Market picture:

QQQ down ~3% retesting the low of the 21dma-structure and the recent reversal pivot. Big spot. Market still needs to digest that big April/May run, and we might be heading into some summer chop. Wouldn’t surprise me.

But the action underneath isn’t that bad. Credit spreads spiked but got rejected at the declining 21dma-structure — I give that a lot of weight in my EOD process, and the rejection on a -3% QQQ day is constructive. VIX back above rising 21dma-structure but nothing extreme. LLs still above a rising 21dma-structure, MCO took a dive but not oversold yet — getting there. LLs breadth ext. washed out, LLs above their 5dma at 25%.

So all in all, there was real and interesting decoupling today — CRWD, CORZ, NBIS, CSCO, even the new SNOW pos. Some bad, some good. I’m choosing to focus on the good and see if the bad catches up or the good creates a buying opportunity.

On my book:

Two-sided day. Closed LITE which is now below structure, took MXL out of the new layer, and reduced semis exposure I had. On the other side, opened SNOW to rotate some software back in, added to ARM cores at structure, and added to FLEX. Not looking to be aggressive, but I want to remain fully invested as long as the action under the surface keeps showing me what it’s showing me.

The book is healthy where it counts — fresh layer is contained, mature core is doing the heavy lifting, and nothing’s tight against stops. NER, NE Δ, NE/CE, UER, FER all within parameters. That’s the whole point of running the dashboard — on a day like today I don’t have to wonder if I’m overextended, the numbers tell me I’m not.

Cycle posture is still productive middle. Not pressing, not retreating.

• Uptrend intact above a rising 21dma-structure, today was a backtest of the reversal pivot — clean digestion, no red flags

• ATR Dist 21ema 1.06 / 10wma 2.31 — room to breathe, not extended, sitting in the pocket where I want it

2. Breadth Regime — mixed

• MCSI on QQQE still below 10dma and drifting, the negative divergence with price is the thing I can’t unsee

• LL Composite MCSI hooking up with MCO curling — breadth expansion showing up where the leadership actually lives, that’s the glass-half-full read

THE GAMEPLAN

Trust the trend until I see red flags. Price is in an uptrend above a rising 21dma-structure, internals are clean, portfolio is working on the back of LLs. The breadth divergence on QQQE is the noise I’m choosing to put aside — not ignore, but not anticipate around either. Glass-half-full read is the LL Composite MCSI hooking with MCO curling up, which is exactly the breadth expansion I want to see in the names that actually move my book.

The make-or-break pillar is breadth. Specifically, whether the LL Composite MCSI keeps trending higher and pulls QQQE’s MCSI off its lows, or whether the QQQE divergence wins out and the broader tape can’t catch up to leadership. That’s the tell over the next few sessions. If LL breadth keeps expanding, this stays a buy-pullbacks-into-rising-21dma-structure tape. If QQQE breadth keeps fading while price holds up, that’s when I start tightening.

Posture is custodian, not aggressor. No plans to push exposure here. Patient with what I already own, let the leaders work, don’t add for the sake of adding. Focus List is there in case I want to rotate lagging names — that’s what today’s LITE-for-SNOW swap was about, cleaner spot, same setup. Defense kicks in if Credit Spreads or VIX reclaim a declining 21dma-structure, or if LLs start losing their bid. Until then, probably a boring week from me unless something big shifts.

Hey guys, hope everyone had a great day. Choppy tape today — market as a whole flat to red, QQQ pulling back and backtesting the reversal pivot. Honestly, pretty normal and healthy action within an uptrend. You don’t get price going up all day every day.

Market picture

QQQ in an uptrend above a rising 21dma-structure, no red flags. Today was a backtest of the reversal pivot — all good if it holds, that’s actually good digestion. Breadth still weak but we’re OS and the market is just digesting in an uptrend… I like that. Internals all risk-on, no red flags there either.

Real story today was the LLs — look at the divergence with the market. GDB at +60th while QQQ flat to red. That’s leadership doing the work.

So all in all, this is a tape to be patient in. We’re easing into that slow summer rhythm where less is more. Buy right and sit tight, don’t force trades.

On my book

LLs leading translated into pretty decent feedback in the PF today despite SW and ARM/NBIS softening up — all good, they can digest. The new layer is contained, NE Δ still in control, so risk-wise nothing to manage. Book’s mature, mostly financed core, with plenty of room before any of this becomes fragile.

Only move was rotating out of software exposure I don’t love — lack of follow-through there — into a team trying to reclaim leadership: the opticals. COHR and GLW were running too hot to execute, so I settled for LITE. Same setup, cleaner spot. Kicked SNOW to make room.

Posture here is custodian, not aggressor. Patient with what I already have, let the leaders work, don’t add for the sake of adding.

• VIX at 16.40, below declining 21dma-structure — also clean.

THE GAMEPLAN

Trying hard not to overthink here. I took the exposure I wanted last week into the short-term oversold flush — that’s my spot, that’s where I engage. Now with the daily reversal reconfirmed and price above rising 21dma-structure, the path forward is simple: if momentum comes back in this week, I want to trim into strength, work my way off margin, and raise cash as we push toward new highs. Same story I always come back to.

The make-or-break pillar is MCSI — needs to hook up and reclaim its 10dma to confirm the breadth side of this re-acceleration. Until then I’m leaning on liquid leaders action and PF feedback as my real-time read. OPEX is behind us but the residual action this week is the unknown — could see some weird digestion before the trend reasserts.

If we get weakness instead, I’m ready to weather it — the book is built to. Nothing fragile, NER sub-2%, financed by mature core. No new initiations pressing here; patience until the market gives me adds in what I’m already holding. Defense only kicks in if internals or breadth flip — right now they’re not, so I stay engaged and let the tape do the work.

Hey guys, OPEX is behind us now. Created some weird action especially into the close, and we’ll need to see what Monday actually brings for the real reaction. But after yesterday’s FOMC reaction and weak close, today was probably an expectation breaker for a lot of people. We talked about the oversold condition yesterday even with that close — the probabilities pointed to a day like today, and we were positioned for it.

Market picture

QQQ confirmed the daily reversal off yesterday’s high. Solid confirmation, still below highs and not extended — clean read on the tape.

A bit of a weird picture underneath though: strong momentum but weak participation. High GDB, MCO not moving much for that reason, but big momo in select names. Could be OPEX related, worth flagging. Market internals all risk-on but still below declining 21dma-structure — that’s the piece that keeps me from getting carried away here.

LLs breadth / MCSI trying to curl up. Good strength today and knocking on new highs. PF feedback was very good — nothing at risk and a lot of names pushing off the right side.

So all in all, everything looks risk-on, action today was really really good.

On my book

Everything under control. The new layer is contained — NER sub -2% with NE Δ under -1%, exactly where I want it sitting. Risk is known and managed, no fresh exposure pressing limits.

UER is running a bit high but still under control — that’s the part I’m watching, not acting on. NE/CE well in range, book is mostly mature financed core doing the work. Nothing fragile, nothing at risk into the weekend. PF is at 12 names which is my max — no new trades allowed for me here, patience until the market gives me adds in what I’m already holding along the way.

Nothing got derisked into the close. The feedback was strong enough to carry through, and the metrics agreed.

THE MARKET PICTURE (5-pillars checklist)

1. $QQQ Price Action — risk-on

• Pulled back right into the rising 21dma-structure and the 723 swing-high pivot — exactly the spot I wanted to see a backtest. Closed 722.51, -1.01%.

• ATR Dist. 21ema at 0.24, 10wma at 1.37 — extension is fully worked off. Price first, and that’s the read.

2. Breadth Regime — mixed

• MCSI at -0.44, below the 10dma — still soft, this is the make-or-break pillar.

• MCO normalized at -1.17, washed out. ST breadth (% > 5SMA) flushed to 20.79 — that’s oversold territory I respect.

3. Internals — risk-on

• Credit spreads (SHY/HYG) still below their declining 21dma-structure — no red flags.

• VIX sitting right in structure. No stress signal from either internal.

4. Liquid Leaders Action — risk-on

• LLs stronger than mega caps and weaker pockets of the tape, with a clean ST breadth washout underneath them.

• Semis remain the spine — Memory, Equipment, Analog, Connectivity all coiling at 21dma-structure together. AI Infrastructure adjacency (GPU Cloud, AI Servers, Database) is the cleanest rotation pocket.

5. Portfolio & NER Feedback — risk-on

• Constructive backtest day — FOMC vol, market closed red right into the spot I wanted.

• Action: NEW $KEYS, $POWI / ADDED none / TRIMMED $CORZ (2R), $NBIS (4/6 at 173%), $ARM (4/9 at 202%) / CLOSED none

• NE/CE 0.52x, UER 34%, Total Exposure 99.5%, off margin — fresh share is real, not a thin probe. Risk known, risk managed.

THE GAMEPLAN

Pullback into rising structure with ST breadth washed out — that’s my setup grid. I executed today on what the pillars gave me. Price first, FOMC happened with the new chair, and yeah it can fail — but I like the odds right here.

The make-or-break pillar is breadth — specifically MCSI hooking back above its 10dma and trending up. That’s the regime confirmation I’m watching the next few sessions. If it hooks, the fresh layer (KEYS, POWI) pays and I’m right where I want to be. If it doesn’t, the new exposure is sized clean off the 21dma-low and the stops do the work.

I’m staying out of the market-top narrative just because we’re red two days in a row, and I’m staying out of the macro noise around rates and inflation — that’s not how I trade. Five pillars, that’s it. OPEX Friday and lingering FOMC vol means nothing’s certain, but my book is positioned, off margin, with risk under control. If we gain traction off this support area tomorrow, I already have the exposure I want — and from there it goes back to trimming into strength on what extends.

Hey guys, hope you had a great day. FOMC today, rate decision, lots of vol up and down — that’s what we expected and that’s what we got. Market closed red, but right into the spot I was looking for.

Market picture

QQQ pulled back right into the rising 21dma-structure and the recent swing high pivot at 723. That was the spot I wanted to see a backtest. ST breadth got washed out, MCO is now oversold too — that’s my typical setup grid.

Credit spreads still below their declining 21dma-structure, VIX right in structure — no red flags on the internals. LLs are stronger than mega caps and other weaker areas of the tape. Not perfect, there’s some good and some bad, but the setup I want is there.

So all in all, I executed on the pullback into rising structure with ST breadth washed out. Price first, FOMC just happened with the new chair, and yeah, it can fail — but I like the odds here.

On my book

I leaned in. New layer is on with NER at the budget — KEYS and POWI as fresh adds, both sized clean off the 21dma-low. The fresh stuff hasn’t been paid yet, NE Δ is sitting right where the new exposure went on, so this is the “now we see” part. Tomorrow either pays or it doesn’t.

Trimmed into strength on what was extended — CORZ at 2R, NBIS (4/6) at 173%, ARM (4/9) at 202%. That’s not a market call, that’s just managing extension and freeing budget for the new layer. Cores keep doing core work.

Book sits at NE/CE 0.52x and UER 34%, so the fresh share is real this time, not a thin probe. FER is fine, off margin, Total Exposure at 99.5%. Risk is known, risk is managed — that’s all I can do. If it works, great. If it fails, that’s part of the game.

One of the biggest shifts in my trading journey was realizing that doing less actually moved me forward.

When you come from a 9–5 world, you’re wired to believe that being busy = being productive. You’re rewarded for effort, presence, and filling your day with tasks. The more you do, the more it feels like progress.

But trading isn’t like that.

That mindset — trying to stay active and always involved in something — is what hurts most traders early on. I used to chase setups all day, thinking I had to be constantly engaged to move forward. More alerts, more tickers, more action. But the only thing that really grew was my frustration and drawdowns.

Over time, I realized that most of my real progress came from restraint. From doing less, but doing it with focus and intent. Some of my best stretches came from trading just a few names, over and over — the ones I understood deeply. I sized up only when conditions were aligned: the setup, the structure, the market, and my state of mind.

Doing less isn’t lazy. It’s strategic. It’s letting the market come to you, not forcing your will on it. That’s what creates consistency and peace of mind.

THE MARKET PICTURE (5-pillars checklist)

1. $QQQ Price Action — risk-on

• Giveback day off the recent push, closing 729.86 (-1.90%). Backtesting the rising 21dma-structure + recent swing high pivot around 720/723 — exactly the zone I want to see hold.

• ATR Dist. 21ema at 0.74, ATR Dist. 10wma at 2.55. Not extended. Healthy digestion of a powerful 3-day move, not a character change.

2. Breadth Regime — mixed

• MCSI on the LL Composite remains above the 10dma and tilting, but MCO back oversold (-1.09) on the same composite — that’s the setup hook I want to see for follow-through.

• On QQQ, MCO back to neutral and MCSI back oversold (!!). Short-term breadth reset into a strong intermediate structure. Constructive.

3. Internals — risk-on

• Credit Spreads (SHY/HYG) still tame, sitting below the 21dma-structure and backtesting the recent swing low pivot. No red flags.

• VIX continues to tame below 21dma-structure. Both pillars still saying risk-on.

4. Liquid Leaders Action — risk-on

• Same story as the index — leaders digesting after extension. AMD ran 25% in 3 days, of course it digests. Backtest of the prior swing high pivot is normal action unless we start breaking structure.

• Focus list names like $FLEX, $CRDO, $CRWD, $CLS all sitting at or just above rising 21dma-structure. The board is coiling, not breaking.

5. Portfolio & NER Feedback — neutral

• Constructive digestion day. After 3 days of doing nothing, started layering exposure back on.

• Action: NEW BE, FLEX / ADDED — / TRIMMED — / CLOSED TSLA, CLS, NOK

• NER -1.33%, OH -11.33%, NE Δ -0.55%, NE/CE 0.40x, Total Exposure 94.6% — fresh layer on but contained, off margin, exactly where I want to be overnight into FOMC.

THE GAMEPLAN

Constructive digestion, and that’s OK — part of the game to ride a trend. Everything we talked about in EMS the last few days played out: the names that ran to R just backtested, structure remains healthy, and internals aren’t flashing anything. Today is not a surprise.

The make-or-break pillar is internals + the declining 21dma-structure on Credit Spreads and VIX. As long as both stay below their declining 21dma-structure, I’m good. A reclaim there is what flips the picture — not today’s giveback. Watching that more than price.

Posture for tomorrow: leaning into a red open. After doing nothing for 3 sessions I’m already layering back, and if we get weakness on the FOMC print into 720/723 with LLs MCO back oversold, that’s exactly the spot I want to be engaged. A lot of setups need that backtest — close-near-low bars today are the tell. If we get the red open with decoupling and support holding, I push more exposure. If internals crack instead, I pull back fast. Metrics under control, off margin, FOMC + new Fed chairman tomorrow means vol — book is clean and ready to act.

Hey guys, constructive digestion day. Giveback on QQQ was expected — we talked about it in EMS — and most of the names that ran to R in the last 3 days just backtested. Nothing broken.

Market picture

QQQ gave back as anticipated. We’ve almost filled the gap, and the next real spot is the rising 21dma-structure + recent swing high pivot around 720/723. That’s the level I’m watching tomorrow on a red open.

Breadth cooled off — MCO back to neutral on QQQ, but LLs MCO is back oversold (!!!). VIX still tamed below 21dma-structure. Credit spreads below 21dma-structure backtesting recent swing low pivot. Five pillars still constructive.

LLs themselves — same story. AMD ran 25% in 3 days, of course it digests for a session. Backtest of the prior swing high pivot is normal action unless we start breaking structure.

So all in all, I see this as constructive action. No guarantees, but the setup tomorrow on a red open into structure with LLs MCO back OS is exactly the kind of spot I want to be engaged for — if the action confirms it.

On my book

• NER: -1.33% — fresh layer on but contained

• NE Δ: -0.55%

• NE/CE: 0.40x — pulled back in line after the afternoon trims

• OH: -11.33%

• UER: 17.8%

• FER: 6.4%

• Total Exposure: 94.6% — off margin, where I want to be overnight

The afternoon cuts were pure risk mngmt. Pre-close, UER was >50% and NE/CE was at 0.85x — too green, too fresh, and I was on margin without the NE delta to justify it. Closed TSLA and CLS to bring the book back in line. NOK also stopped same-day. If those new names had given me real traction and a working NE delta, different story — but that wasn’t the case, so I’m not going to babysit unproven exposure on margin overnight.

Also worth flagging: FOMC tomorrow. 14:00 decision, 14:30 conference, and a new Fed chairman — could bring more vol than usual. Another reason to keep the book clean tonight and let tomorrow tell me what to do.

Stayed engaged in the weakness as opportunity (added FLEX, BE earlier in the day) but kept NE focused on strong setups only. If tomorrow we get the red open into 720/723 with decoupling and support holding, I’ll push more exposure again. For now, metrics under control and waiting.

One of the biggest shifts in my trading journey was realizing that doing less actually moved me forward.

When you come from a 9–5 world, you’re wired to believe that being busy = being productive. You’re rewarded for effort, presence, and filling your day with tasks. The more you do, the more it feels like progress.

But trading isn’t like that.

That mindset — trying to stay active and always involved in something — is what hurts most traders early on. I used to chase setups all day, thinking I had to be constantly engaged to move forward. More alerts, more tickers, more action. But the only thing that really grew was my frustration and drawdowns.

Over time, I realized that most of my real progress came from restraint. From doing less, but doing it with focus and intent. Some of my best stretches came from trading just a few names, over and over — the ones I understood deeply. I sized up only when conditions were aligned: the setup, the structure, the market, and my state of mind.

Doing less isn’t lazy. It’s strategic. It’s letting the market come to you, not forcing your will on it. That’s what creates consistency and peace of mind.

THE MARKET PICTURE (5-pillars checklist)

1. $QQQ Price Action — risk-on, extended

• Three days up in a row, QQQ +3% / QQQE +2.5% — price above rising 21dma-structure, trend intact and accelerating.

• Already running hot — 2.3x ATR from the 21ema and 3.4x ATR from the 10wma. The tape is strong but stretched.

2. Breadth Regime — risk-on, overbought

• MCSI on the LL Composite holding above its 10dma, flagged OB — expansion regime confirmed, but no fresh fuel here.

• MCO near overbought, stocks above 5dma at 75%. Breadth extension is real and short-term overcooked.

3. Internals — risk-on

• Credit Spreads pinned below their declining 21dma-structure, drifting lower — clean.

• VIX at 16.28, below its declining 21dma-structure — no stress in the system.

4. Liquid Leaders Action — risk-on

• Semis remain the engine — Memory, Equipment, and Power Semis driving the tape. Electronics Mfg Services and Optical Components coiling at 21dma-structure with full-breadth leadership setups ($CLS / $FLEX, $VIAV / $GLW).

• No red flags in the leadership board — laggards like $CRWD and $CSCO only now building the right side, holding at the 21dma-structure I flagged this morning.

5. Portfolio & NER Feedback — risk-on, derisking into strength

• Risk-on follow-through day, but a derisking day on my book — managing extension, not pressing into it.

• Action: NEW none / ADDED none / TRIMMED $AMD, $NBIS / CLOSED none

• NER -0.83%, NE Delta -0.47%, Open Heat -12.28%. Staying off margin is intentional — book is light, cash is building, ready for the proven merchandise to pull back into structure.

THE GAMEPLAN

Game plan stays the same. Short-term breadth is a bit overbought and price is pretty extended — three days up in a row, positions are working, but this isn’t the spot to press. I’d rather wait for breadth extension to flush and MCO to get near oversold before pressing. That’s where the risk/reward stacks back up — when the strongest names pull back into rising 21dma-structure on some short-term fear.

The make-or-break pillar is breadth. Watching MCSI hold above its 10dma while MCO works off the overbought condition — that’s the regime-sustain signal. A roll of MCSI below its 10dma into a price stall is what flips the picture and tells me to tighten up further.

My execution plan is binary from here. If we get a stress test tomorrow or in the next few sessions, I’m willing to add one or two positions on small risk into names backtesting their rising 21dma-structure. If we just keep trending up here without a flush, more patience is needed — I’m not chasing names three days into a rip. The focus list below reflects that: these are the names I want on backtests of rising 21dma-structure, not up here.

PORTFOLIO UPDATE 6/15

Hey guys, market is super strong here — three days up in a row and positions are working. But this isn’t the spot to press. Sticking to the game plan I’ve been running since last Thursday: took NER up early in the pullback, and now staying patient and raising cash as the new uptrend attempt extends.

Market picture: QQQ +3%, QQQE +2.5%, but we’re already running hot — 2.3x ATR from the 21 EMA and 3.4x ATR from the 10wma. MCO near overbought, stocks above 5dma at 75%. Breadth extension is real.

Internals are clean — price above rising 21 EMA, credit spreads pinned below their declining 21 EMA, breadth expansion regime. No red flags.

So all in all, the tape is strong but extended. I’d rather wait for breadth extension to flush and MCO to get near oversold before pressing. That’s where the risk/reward stacks back up — when the strongest names pull back into rising 21dma-structure on some short-term fear. Until then, patience.

The game plan stays the same — trim into strength, reduce exposure, raise cash as the trend extends. Took AMD trim early premarket on the open strength, then trimmed 1/5 NBIS intraday into the +11% rip. Staying off margin is intentional — it reinforces the process of waiting for a real stress test before re-pressing. Some current setups will fail when the tape actually gets tested, and I’d rather have the cash ready for the proven merchandise pulling back into structure.

Some lagging names like CRWD and CSCO only building the right side now, holding above or at the 21dma-structure we flagged in EMS this morning. Patience there too.

• Gap up coming into Monday makes three sessions in a row of strength — constructive, but the tape is getting short-term extended

2. Breadth Regime — risk-on

• MCSI turning up, back above its 10-day — the regime-sustain signal I needed to see

• MCO back above zero and confirming the move, not lagging it — internals leading, not chasing

3. Internals — risk-on

• SHY/HYG rolling lower under a declining 21dma-structure — credit risk-on, spreads compressing

• VIX behaving, no stress signal

4. Liquid Leaders Action — risk-on

THE GAMEPLAN

The make-or-break pillar this week is breadth — specifically, the MCSI needs to confirm the bounce. Price has done its part, MCO has hooked up and pushed back above zero, but until MCSI hooks up, reclaims its 10-day, and starts trending higher again, I’m treating this as a tactical bounce that still needs the regime stamp. That’s the single signal I’m tracking this week — everything else is secondary.

If MCSI confirms, the lockout setup is in play and patience pays. That’s when leaders pulling back into rising 21dma-structure become the real opportunity — not chasing day three of strength, but waiting for the next short-term breadth reset to oversold and engaging on the right side of that pullback. If MCSI fails to hook up and rolls back under its 10-day while price digests, that’s the tell that this was a relief pop, not a regime turn — and the posture stays defensive.

So this week is really about reading one chart. MCSI hooks up = re-engagement window opens on the next pullback. MCSI fails = stay off the gas. Everything else falls out of that.

Hey guys, hope you had a great weekend. I was out of office Friday so it was a quiet one for me — but the positioning was made prior, especially Thursday. Market confirmed that oversold bounce we talked about last week.

Market picture

A lot of the liquid leaders were sitting right at their 21dma structure into late last week. MCO and breadth extensions were very, very oversold. That setup played out Thursday, followed through Friday, and now we get another gap up over the weekend on the peace agreement headline.

QQQE thrust holding, MCSI turning up, MCO back above zero — internals confirming the move, not lagging it.

So all in all, the bounce confirmed, but that gap up sets up a short-term overbought condition. That’s not a green light to chase — that’s where I use strength to trim into extension and raise cash.

On my book

NER at -1.30%, NE Delta -0.44%. Open Heat at -9.14%.

Friday was no new trades — just derisked GFS per process. Game plan from here is to play the next cycle better: stay off margin, trim into strength, raise cash while the tape grinds higher. Two things that gets me — limits the DD when the next pullback hits (no repeat of Friday two weeks ago), and puts me in position to be aggressive with fresh exposure on the right side of that pullback.

Not planning new exposure this week. If we get weakness later in the week, I might start looking — but not before that.
